Sharon Cekada is a photographer based in Oshkosh, Wis.  She held the title of assistant photo editor and staff photojournalist at The Post-Crescent in Appleton, Wis., while also working collectively with the Gannett Wisconsin Media print and online news organizations in Northeast Wisconsin. Sharon is an Ohio native and studied photojournalism at Kent State University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Sharon has a passion for telling stories regarding social issues and giving a voice to those who may feel like they don't have one. She has had the honor of documenting people in her local community for the majority of her professional career, but has also had the wonderful opportunity of traveling for work. She enjoys photographing families and loves working with small businesses in creating candid and natural photojournalistic-style, on-the-job business branding images that can be used for marketing purposes.

Her documentary photography and multimedia work has been recognized by the Scripps Howard Foundation, the Casey Journalism Center on Children and Families, National Press Photographers Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Press Club, Wisconsin News Photographers Association – where she earned the title of WNPA Photographer of the Year – the Wisconsin Newspaper Association, and Best of Gannett awards.
